Lead Electrical Design Engineer

Overall Purpose of Job:
Under General Supervision, utilizing technical expertise or overseeing a specific area within established practices and guidelines, by Management of Fluor or its subsidiaries (indicated as the Company), the purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative and technical knowledge and direction for the job functions listed below with the objective of ensuring Fluor's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value.

Primary Job Duties/Functions:
1. Leads the engineering effort on assigned projects and is responsible for coordinating the individual Engineering Discipline Leads and the PDDM Lead such that the most cost effective total project solution for executing engineering work is achieved. Coordinates the interface between Engineering and the other disciplines on the project including Process Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement and Contracts, Construction, and the Client team.

Duties include but are not limited to:
-ensures that the engineering work on the project is completed on schedule, meets Fluors quality standards including review meetings and checking procedures, performance is within the baseline man hour and material budgets, required deliverables are produced, change management is executed in a timely manner, and Engineering Department Managers are apprised of issues related to their function

2. Works with Discipline Leads and Engineering Department Managers to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate to achieve the engineering schedule commitments and personnel are assigned with appropriate ability 3. Reviews the status of the schedule and progress performance with the Discipline Leads on a regular basis, and keeps the Project Manager and Engineering Department Managers apprised of issues
4. Ensures the quality of the Engineering execution and deliverables
5. Coordinates the identification, monitoring and forecasting of project material quantities
6. Ensures that the Engineering Discipline Leads are internally aligned and adequately interfacing with one another, and provides input to Engineering Departments regarding work process issues and opportunities for improvement
7. Develops appropriate work distribution plans and ensures that appropriate measures are taken such that work performed in other Fluor offices or other designated entities performing Distributed Execution Engineering is completed on time and within budget, and that it meets Fluors quality standards
8. Ensures the completion of required design reviews
9. Directs and oversee audits done by the Engineering Management Department as well as the Discipline Engineering Departments
10. Promotes and supports the project Value Creation effort
11. Ensures adherence to Industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures
12. Participates in people development through mentoring, development of training material, and conducting or training seminars
13. Develops and builds client relations
14. Provides close interface with, and promotes the understanding of, other discipline functions
15. Other related duties/functions as assigned

Working Conditions:
1. Generally favorable indoor office workspace.

Requirements

- A verifiable University Bachelor or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Broad experience in the E&C industry, 15 years experience in O&G / Petrochemical industries, 10 years as a Electrical Design Engineer Lead, 3 years experience in relevant software. Industrial experience within Upstream / Downstream Oil and Gas, Refining or Petrochemicals preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to apply Electrical Engineering principles to the work process with general supervision.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued learning and education.
- Good spoken and written English.
- Professional Registration Required

Advanced knowledge of:
- Electrical codes and standards
- Electrical power systems software (e.g., SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), Electrical Transient and Analysis Program (ETAP), etc.)
- Advanced understanding of power systems
- Basic understanding of Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems/procedures
