Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

a. Reviews events of previous shift and identifies any anomalies or non-routine events occurring in RFCC Converter / MF / Gas Con / PRU and LPG Merox units and any carry forward situations resulting in the on-going attention of the incoming shift such as maintenance work in progress, etc.
b. Reviews log books or TOB, establishes events and notes made during the last 24 hours prior to current shift, identifies any circumstances relevant to incoming shift.
c. Searches for developing trends of major operation variables and assesses needs to follow closely.
d. Carries out a physical inspection of process equipment, safety and fire equipment, and personal protective equipment throughout shift.
e. Takes outside readings and transfers to control room log sheet. Reports observed anomalies to shift Foreman or Control Operator.
f. Provides regular samples of products for testing and takes irregular samples as required.
g. Inspects heaters, rotating equipment, vessels, columns, drums etc., for normal operation. Check local instruments such as levels, flows, temperatures, pressures to ensure they meet accepted routine operating parameters of the plant.
h. Identifies operating problems on the units and reports to shift foreman or control operator on the situation at the earliest opportunity. Makes recommendations on possible solutions to recurring problems.
i. Controls the dosage of local chemical injection. Take readings of chemical inventory level periodically and maintain appropriate local inventory.
j. Participates regularly in dry training for the appropriate and prompt response to emergency
k. In the event of emergency, follows established emergency procedures and carries out instructions from the control operator in the control room.
l. Follows all established safety rules and regulations. Maintains a high degree of house keeping in nominated area.
m. Undertakes duties as fire crew member and takes regular fire and safety training.
n. Issues maintenance work request and prepare for maintenance work. Isolates, conducts safety test, and makes the equipment ready for maintenance work before work permit issue.
o. Watches and ensures the maintenance works are done in accordance with the job specifications and safety/environmental regulations.
p. Work Contacts:
Has occasional contact with maintenance staff.
q. Latitude for Actions or Decisions:
Works according to work procedures, job instruction, safety/environmental regulations. Work is subject to detailed check at regular intervals.
r. Supervisory Responsibility:
Gives occasional work direction to maintenance staff.
s. Physical Effort:
Uses tools such as wrenches and spanners for 5% of working time. Lifts drums and sacks of chemicals up to 25kg in weight. 75% of time is spent walking or standing, 10% climbing and 15% sitting down.
t. Work Conditions:
85% of working hours are spent in the prevailing climate with some conditions of heat, noise, vibration and oil. 15% of time is spent in an air-conditioned control room.

Requirements

1. Diploma in Chemical Engineering or related Science.
2. Ability to apply technical knowledge and support operation staff and processes.
3. Understand and explain main equipments, pumps, compressor, heaters and columns
4. Able to read P & IDs and capable of sketching relevant units (line tracing)
5. Ability to meet highest HSE standards, attended H2s courses
6. Demonstrated non-authoritative ability to
influence peers
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong self awareness.
8. Computer Skills
