Laboratory Chemist (Technical Service Department)

Created from the integration of three companies - Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company LLC (ORPC), Aromatics Oman LLC (AOL) and Oman Polypropylene (OPP) - Orpic is one of Oman`s largest companies and is one of the most rapidly growing businesses in the Middle East`s oil industry.

Currently we are hiring two experienced Laboratory Chemists for our Oil and Gas refinery operations.

General Accountability /Role of the Job

* Perform blend studies, chemical assay and lead test run by various operating areas.
* Familiar with a wide range of analytical methods and can interrelate and cross check parameters for verification.
* Knows very well the process streams, its typical components and concentration.
* Knowledgeable with significance of test and product quality and specification.
* Knowledgeable with environmental regulation regarding testing, waste handling and disposal.
* Understands physical process and plant chemistry.

Requirements

• University degree in Chemistry with experience in Refinery/Petrochemical Labs. Professional qualification is an advantage.

• 3 years relevant experience in Refinery/Petrochemical/Polymer Laboratories is required.

• Experience in Gas Chromatography is required.

• Experience test runs, optimization and Product blend trials is required.

• Knowledge of Standard Methods (ASTM, UOP, IP, IFP, APHA, SMS, NM).

• Knowledgeable in LIMS is an advantage.

• Demonstrated ability to listen and collaborate with others

• Ability to describe personal strengths and development needs.

• English (fluent) required, Arabic is advantageous
