Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Assistant Resident Engineer- M/E is responsible for performing all the administrative and operational functions necessary for the day to day operation of the project. In the absence of the Resident Engineer, the Assistant will assume his duties.

Duties will include:
- Administrating construction contract works, and assisting the Resident Engineer (RE) with prompt exchange of correspondence, submittals, and RFIs to all contractors.
- Assigning and supervising the construction inspection staff on a daily basis so that all contractor activities are adequately covered.
- Supervising and remaining vigilant regarding all aspects of the construction activities. Responding with appropriate and necessary levels of construction supervision to provide quality assurance in accordance with contract documents.
- Coordinating the interface of the construction work with other contractors on the site. Liaising with inspectors to verify that the contractor is following his approved site Health & Safety plan.
- Assisting the RE and Quantity Surveying (QS) team in negotiations with the contractor regarding the value of claims or changes in schedule.
- Reviewing the contractors progress at all times. Monitoring the material incorporated in the work, the materials stored at the site, and the contractors manpower and equipment.
- Attending weekly, monthly, and other progress meetings held at the site as required by the Senior Resident Engineer (SRE). Identifying constraints and recommending corrective measures.
- Reviewing inspectors daily reports and preparing the engineers daily diary, and generally overseeing the inspectors daily activities including works assignments, on-site performance, and supervising the contractors operations.
- Coordinating with contractors supervisory personnel regarding schedule, sequence, and method of work.
- Assisting the SRE to prepare written and oral reports for the RE on contractual and procedural matters.

Specific Skills Required;
- Excellent working knowledge of industry practices/safety/quality management systems.
- High level of critical thinking skills.
- High level of management skills.
- Clear verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of contract documents and specifications.

Requirements

- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited University is essential.
- GCC experience
- Minimum of 10 years experience working across lagre scale building projects
