Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Assist the Regional Financial Control Manager in preparing forecasts and annual budgets for overhead and operational costs in the Regional Office, in conjunction with Regional management and management in the agencies.
- Produce timely and reliable management information reports on a weekly/monthly/periodical basis as required Regional Office Management for those financial items under the offices control and produce variance analyses to assist Regional management to take corrective action.
- Assisting in providing recommendations to Regional management to reduce costs, and assist with the development of cost management plans.
- Provide cost estimates and update Financial Systems as required to ensure that accurate and up to date information is provided to Trade Unit and for pricing/yield calculations and for P&L preparation.
- Provide Trade Management with information as required on costs within the Regional Office with respect to terminals, ports, etc, provide analysis thereof, propose ways and means of reducing costs and drive/support cost reduction initiatives for cost items controlled by the offices and agencies in the region
- Respond to queries from Trade Management on cost levels, and differences between estimate and actual costs.
- Prepare reconciliations, statutory compliance, internal, external and Government audits, monthly and annual tax returns and conduct ad hoc projects/financial exercises as required to support the regional management activity and as may be requested by Head Office from time to time
- Thoroughly review all periodic financial reports provided by regions offices and agencies, assist in preparing briefings for the Regional Management on the financial performance of these offices and agencies, and make recommendations where relevant to improve financial performance.
- Oversee the implementation of companys policies and procedures in regions offices and agencies so as to standardize the processes followed by offices and agencies globally.

Requirements

- Chartered Accountant or CMA or equivalent tertiary qualification preferred
- 6 - 8 years in management Accounting including at least 3 years as Finance Manager or Financial Controller in a medium to large Shipping Agency
- Regional office experience preferred

Job-Specific Skills:
- Financial and accounting skills
- Skill in extensive use of Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Office)
- Aware of better practices in the processes and the methodologies relevant to shipping industry
