Assistant Nurse - Female

Job description / Role

The Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to provide basic nursing care to patients.

- Assists all patients with activities of daily living such as washing, dressing and feeding
- Ensures that patients have an adequate supply of clean linen, and that soiled items are removed
- Responsible for keeping patient rooms clean and neat
- Observes and reports all changes in the physical and mental state of a patient to the Registered Nurse
- Provides assistance with lifting and turning patients and assists patients with ambulation
- Orients patients to the nurse-call system, television and telephone
- Provides assistance in emergencies
- Answers bells promptly and calls the nurse practitioner, if indicated
- Provides bed bathing and pressure care to patients
- Takes and records vital signs
- Administrative support
- Acts as a porter or general assistant
- Monitors and orders linen and stores

Requirements

- Nursing Diploma of at least 2 years duration
- Minimum 2 years post graduate experience
- Current license as a Nursing Assistant or as a Registered Nurse in home country and in current country of residence
- Fluency in written and spoken English (Arabic language skills are well regarded)
- High level of verbal and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality patient care in the ward or clinic
- Demonstrated competence in working under the direction of a Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement for better health outcomes
- Computer literacy at an intermediate level
- Ability to function effectively under pressure
