Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources

Identify equipment needs. Analysis of new integrations for impact to the lab. Contingency planning for new system impacts. Support new installations and integrations to ensure interoperability. Developing new systems internal installation documentation. Providing post-installation Contingency Plan updates. Problem identification and trouble tickets. System problem resolution. Review and maintain all system SOPs for problem identification, reporting and resolution actions.

Participate in required technical reviews. Create and manage accounts. Install, configure, update, and remove system and application software. Install, configure, and remove system hardware (servers, workstations, peripherals). Monitor and allocate system resources (CPU, memory, storage). Audit system log files to include compliance audits.

Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Document hardware and software configurations, maintenance history, and backup history. Implement up-to-date system policies and procedures. Will participate on site surveys and the production of site survey reports.

In this position the candidate will support the EADGE-T program with the system integration of COTS, GOTS and developed solutions and technologies in a team environment. This position will require the candidate to perform across the lifecycle from concept development, design, implementation, integration and deployment by applying diverse skills in systems engineering, system administration, integration, test and system security. The candidate will have significant direct contact with the immediate customer and the organizations software development staff.

Requirements

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrable experience in System Administrator experience on a Linux/Unix based operating system as well as Windows. Familiarity with network management and maintenance. The candidate should have demonstrable experience of troubleshooting software and hardware problems on large scale, enterprise systems. Demonstrable experience of scripting (both Linux/Unix and Windows scripts). Experience required with HW and SW Configuration and management, point-to-point and network connectivity, system configuration, LDAP, and GOTS/COTS Integration and Test (experience with Subversion and Atlassian suite of tools preferred). Strong organizational skills and ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent attention to detail.

Depending on the project phase and requirements, personnel may be required to work hours and days corresponding to the US program and local UAE customers work schedule. Some travel may be required.

Desired Skills:
Ability to speak Arabic a plus.

Hardware maintenance and troubleshooting of the following types of equipment:
- Computers (Laptops, Workstations, Blade Chassis, Servers)
- Peripherals (Printers, KVM, Monitors / Displays)
- Server and Communication (MDF/IDF) Racks
- Network / Communication equipment (Switches / routers / Wi-Fi Radios)
- Teleconferencing equipment (VTC)
- Cabling and terminations (Copper/Fiber)
- Testing equipment and protocol analyzers

Familiarity with maintenance and troubleshooting of the following software products:
- Linux/Unix
- Windows
- Internet OS (cisco, juniper)
- VMWare

Ability to follow system installation procedures to install both hardware and software. Ability to follow a fielding handbook to ensure compliance with hardware installation standards. Support equipment management and auditing (Receiving; Stacking/Storing; Retrieval and put-a-way).

Experience with inventory control, packing and operating and maintaining material handling equipment (MHE). Able to follow detailed software installation procedures, able to follow detailed procedures to install servers, network equipment and racks.
