Our client are a major international construction main contractor who pride themselves on industry expertise and a strong work ethic. There span of work encompasses the construction of infrastructure, power plants and oil & gas projects worldwide and particularly in the Middle East. Our client prides themselves on their versatility in the industry because of their adaptive team of experienced professionals. Now one of their current projects require a candidate that will emulate these qualities so that positive results can be maintained.

Our client is urgently seeking a HSE Manager for a breakwater project in Basra, Iraq. The vacancy is a major EPC project and the successful HSE Manager should have extensive experience in implementing and supervising HSE Management systems on site for large scale construction projects.

Ideally the HSE Manager will have experience in both managing subcontractors and supervising HSE activities for marine and civil activities on site.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that all projects' operations are executed in compliance to HSE applied standards and norms
- Implementing and monitoring initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the health, safety and environmental services and delivery.
- Developing and retaining a high quality workforce in a fair manner, in line with the organisation strategy.
- Prepare health, safety and environmental training manuals and provide training support to the project.
- Being proactive in the design and implementation of initiatives for continuous improvement in business efficiencies.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar.
- Professional HSE Qualifications (NEBOSH IGC or Diploma) etc.
- Qualified Lead Auditor
- Professional HSE Qualifications (IOSH, OSHA)
- Membership in professional bodies
- Experience: 10-15 years in HSE domain of EPC projects, preferably in the marine and civil/infrastructure sector, of which over 5 years of experience in breakwater, dry-dock or port project is a must.
- Full Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 requirements and international HSE standards.
- Able to lead multinational team, communication skills, organization skills, coordination skills, and good IT skills.
