Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Wood is recruiting for an Instrument and Control Design Engineer to join our team in Basra, Iraq.

Responsibilities:
- Provide Instrument Design Engineers on operational modifications and projects as required by the Area Engineering Support - Team Leader, Instrumentation and Control Engineers as a Designer Engineer
- Execute instrument design activities during all stages of Instrument scope design and or existing system modifications
- Develop drawings and other associated deliverables required for issuing Electrical construction workpacks, as required by Area Electrical Engineer
- Carry out Site surveys as required under operational modifications and projects associated with Instrument scopes
- Assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems
- Carry out work in accordance with company and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems
- Maintain the required technical quality or work
- Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with Change Control Process
- Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures, standards and regulations
- Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed schedule
- Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline
- Responsible for delivering Instrument design project work scope as required to desired quantity
- Maintain good communication with the Area Engineering Support Team members and Assets Support Teams when necessary

Requirements

Qualifications:
- Minimum HNC in Instrument Engineering or related subject

Experience:
- Experience with working on projects for the Oil & Gas Sector
- Experience with working within an Operational Support or Project team as C&I designer and on C&I across a range of industry sectors. on Small, Medium / Large operational modifications and projects for the full life cycle of engineering systems
- Be a Self-motivated team player working under own initiative with minimal supervision
- Experience with development of Instrument Design deliverables as required on a Scope-by-scope basis
- Good understanding with respect to applicable international codes and standards and their application
- Highlight existing short falls within designed system to the Area Engineering Support Team where found during on site investigations
- High level of competency with respect to AutoCAD 2D applications

Experience of managing, checking and delivering of the following deliverables:
- Cable Block diagrams, Instrument schedule, Cable and Drum Schedules, Layout and Routing Drawings, Support & Transit Drawings, MTO Schedules, Standard installation details, Termination Drawings, Panel and JB General Arrangement Drawings, Instrument Earthing and Power Distribution Drawings, Hook-up Drawings, Loop Drawings, Workpacks, SOW documents, Label & Furrule Schedules

Experience of developing Electrical deliverables and construction workpacks, including:
- Cable Routing Layout, Earthing Layout, Equipment Layout, Lighting Layout and similar
- Single Line Diagram, Wiring and Interconnection Diagram
- Cable Schedule, Material Take off

- Strong understanding of plant design and equipment layout and ability to coordinate with other discipline design groups to progress a joined-up system and or plant design
- Liaising with other disciplines as required
