Our client is a private holding group operating in diversified industries including O&G, Energy, trading, shipping and real-estate sectors. It has offices in the UAE, Iraq and Europe. We are urgently looking for a hands-on Regional Financial Controller to join the Iraq office (Kurdistan).

We are urgently looking for a hands-on Regional Financial Controller to join the Iraq office (Kurdistan).
The successful candidate will look after all financial-related activities in Iraq, which is the main operating office of the group. You will join a multicultural environment and partner with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting. The role will directly report into the Group Finance Director based in the UAE.
Description
* Provide accurate and timely preparation of financial reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This includes income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analysis standalone and consolidated regional companies.
* Identify and mitigate financial risks within the region. Implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
* Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including AP/AR, payroll and treasury functions.
* Work closely with tax advisors to develop tax strategies and ensure compliance with local and international tax laws
* Manage a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and development.
* Evaluating, implementing, and optimizing financial systems and processes to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve accuracy in financial reporting.
* Managing cash flow to optimize liquidity while minimizing idle cash balances. Monitoring banking activities, optimizing banking relationships, and overseeing cash forecasting.
* Participating in implementation or developments projects e.g. SAP/ERP/Others from a finance perspective.

Requirements
* A relevant finance qualification is highly desirable (CA, ACCA, CPA, etc)
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in the finance function, including at least 5 years in a financial controller role
* A previous experience within a holding/investment company is a strong asset, otherwise, a diversified industry background is required
* Strong hands-on experience with IFRS
* Being highly comfortable with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics)
* Any exposure to the Iraq market is a strong asset
* A previous experience leading a team, region or division is mandatory
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
* Fluency in Arabic will be a plus
