Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Client is one of the largest Banks in the Middle East.

The candidate should have an excellent understanding of Legal Department in Banking. My client is looking to recruit a Legal Advisor.

The incumbent will have the overall responsibility for providing Legal Counsel to the Bank.

Some of the Duties and Responsibilities are:
- Provide legal counseling and drafting contracts for all countries within specified geography (Group entities and expatriates contracts to be added for International)
- Supervise and review the work done by in country lawyers (internal and external) in a way to best serve the interest of the Bank and client functions in line with set quality standards
- Overseeing a team of lawyers in a way to ensure optimum exposure and development through on the job coaching and training
- Provide legal opinions with regards to one-off transactions such as merges/acquisitions, new branch set-up, etc.

Requirements

- LLB and LLM from reputable Jordanian university and LLM from Western University
- Member of the Jordan/US/UK Bar as applicable
- Min of 15 years’ experience in Legal department with a reputable major local Bank and/or Law Office and/or international financial institution and/or Law Firm (international)
- Min of 5 years’ experience in a similar senior position
- Significant experience in Litigations management and Corporate
- Experience in negotiation and drafting joint venture and agency agreements
- Knowledge of Legal banking regulations and policies
- Legal knowledge of merger process
- Strong leadership qualities
- Good communication skills - Arabic speaking

Desirable requirements:
- GCC experience
