Employment: Full Time

Our esteemed Client considered the pioneer in the banking phenomenon known as Islamic Finance or Shari’a Compliant Banking has instructed us to recruit A Principal Analyst Metadata for a 12 month contract being paid a daily rate.

Under the direction of the Executive Manager – Enterprise Information Management, the jobholder will capture, manage and publish business, technical and process metadata. The metadata scope is “all information assets and software belonging to the organization”.

The jobholder's responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following tasks:
- Primary responsibility for the implementation, management and evolution of a metadata management strategy and competency within the bank.
- Primary responsibility for the acquisition, design, management and enhancement of a Metadata Repository as an Information Asset Catalogue and Business Glossary.
- Primary responsibility for the establishment and maintenance, within the Information Asset Catalogue, of the life-cycle and lineage of information assets.
- Primary responsibility for the capture and management of existing, new and changed business, technical and process metadata for structured and unstructured information assets of the organization.
- Primary responsibility for the identification of synonyms and homonyms within the Information Asset Catalogue.
- Primary responsibility for the development of queries and reports against operational systems for the code tables registered in the Information Asset Catalogue.
- Primary responsibility for the development of queries and reports, using Business Objects, for relevant metadata metrics.
- Primary responsibility to publish the Information Asset Catalogue in any format as required by business and ITD staff.
- Primary responsibility to support business and technical staff in finding the information needed to perform their jobs.
- Contributing to the publication of a quarterly EIM status report.
- Managing the metadata related workload of junior staff.

The jobholder will work closely with and through all lines of business towards enhancing business return on information assets through maintenance of the banks Information Asset Catalogue.

The jobholder will assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time by his manager.

- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices by adapting international best practices to the local situation.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Follow all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Statements and Reports
- Primary responsibility for the preparation of timely and accurate statements and reports to meet business requirements, policies and standards. In particular, quarterly reports regarding the contents of the Information Asset Catalogue will be essential.

Related Assignments
- Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.

Key Performance Indicators:
- The number of information assets documented in the Information Asset Catalogue.
- The number of synonyms and homonyms that have been identified.
- The number of systems that have had their technical metadata captured.
- The number of vendor and in-house data dictionaries that have been converted from Word/Excel/PDF/HTML into the Information Asset Catalogue.

Authority & Decision Making:
- Key decisions having significant impact on own function are referred to the direct in-charge manager for approval before implementation. The jobholder is expected to identify problems, assess alternative solutions, and recommend a preferred alternative to his/her manager.

Requirements

- A university degree in Computer Science, Business Management, and/or equivalent degree and experience.
- Relevant certifications are desirable, such as but not limited to:
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP)
- Seven years of combined experience working in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Information / Data Governance,
- Data Architecture / Modelling,
- Metadata Management,
- Master Data Management,
- Database Administration.
- Five years of experience using SQL.
- Three years of experience working with metadata repository products.
- Three years of experience in senior technical roles in data management initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
- Expert understanding of the ISO 11179 standard.
- Expert understanding of data modeling concepts, syntax and normalization
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Exceptional understanding of XML, messaging and web services.
- Exceptional organization, planning and prioritization skills for his/her own workload and small teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and team-oriented manner with other leaders and team members.
- Exposure to mature SDLC and ‘Agile’ methodologies.
- Exposure to banking products, services and business processes.
- Awareness of applicable EIM-related laws and regulations.
- Bilingual, English and Arabic
- English language skill level is at least ‘IELTS Band 7 Good User’ or equivalent.
