Project Manager - Buildings - Kuwait

The company is the Developer and Main Contractor of a prestigious waterside city in Kuwait which is being rolled out on an unprecedented scale within very short timeframes. This iconic project has a strong western centric management team and systems, has a track record of successfully delivering projects and has been strategically growing and expanding its capabilities. There is a full and stable list of work orders looking into the future and therefore the prospect for long and stable employment.

The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering a variety of buildings safely, on time, to a high standard and within budget. The range of building types will include residential, commercial, medical and institutional.

The Project Manager will report directly to the Senior Project Manager.

Typical responsibilities will include:
- Organizing client/site/project meetings, and issuance of agendas, meeting minutes, technical reports, productivity reports, QA compliance reports, etc.
- Collating and issuance of various project information to all parties involved including other internal team members.
- Understanding and cross?checking design documentation against specifications and the Client Brief.
- Liaising with the design team, client and other trades to ensure the correct works have been included and identifying and resolving any design and discipline coordination issues.
- Producing programmes and schedules then checking with all parties involved.
- Preparing tender documentation for various trades and services including analysis of returns.
- Ensure shop drawings, method statements, procured materials, etc. are prepared in a timely manner, are complying with the contract documents, and are approved by the independent supervising Consultant.
- Manage the various sub-contractors and/or direct labour to deliver the Construction Works to time, quality, cost and safety objectives.
- Carrying out site visits/surveys throughout the project in order to record information on the progress of the project for inclusion in formal reports.
- Checking and reporting that quality standard, authority submissions and all health & safety requirements are being adhered to.
- Monitoring the value and cost data of the project to ensure the budgets are met, including assistance with preparation of budgets and cost reports and identifying areas of potential risk and/or contingency.
- Checking and administering the change control process.
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of Client Progress Reports and Recommendations.
- Compiling defects and inspection reports and ensuring all defects get completed.
- Assist with compiling final accounts, closeout reports, O&M manuals, as-built drawings etc.
- Ensure robust QA Systems are in place and functioning well throughout the whole project life cycle.
- Lead by example in your approach to Site Safety.

Requirements

- Relevant Architecture/Engineering/Building degree
- 5-10 years experience in a Project Management or PM Consulting role
- Membership of relevant professional institutes / bodies an advantage
- In depth understanding and practice of project management and project controls
- Experience in managing all phases of building projects, from inception to completion
- Good all-round knowledge of building engineering disciplines, Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical
- Up to date HSEQ knowledge and experience
- Commercial Management
- Fluency in both written and oral English
- High level of IT literacy and competent in the use of the Microsoft suite of products
- Effective, multi-cultural, interpersonal communications
- Previous Middle East experience would be an advantage
