Regional Freight Manager - Shipping - Kuwait

The Corporate Logistics Team plan, move and control the flow of goods from point of origin to point of consumption across all divisions, markets and brands within Alshaya. Working closely with brand teams to ensure appropriate stock and delivery to store, the team manages a range of complex and diverse activities including shipping, freight, warehouse operations, customs clearance (in-bound and out-bound), compliance and project management.

The Regional Freight Manager monitors and manages the Shipping Managers and group freight operational activities across multiple markets, developing the Shipping Operations teams to achieve company targets and goals whilst ensuring that freight cost reduction and improved service levels are maintained. This is a global regional role which will promote strong logistical growth for Alshaya by developing the company's global transportation capabilities over the next 5 years.

You will oversee the development of new freight business, maintain and develop relationships with new and existing clients in the local market and drive for maximum utilisation of existing facilities. Additionally, you will create solutions to improve performance of the supply chain through carrier and route selection whilst developing routes and services in advance of business growth for new and existing brands within the organisation.

Key areas of responsibility will include (but are not limited to):
* Data Analysis & Management reporting
* Freight Procurement
* Development & Implementation of Brand Plans
* Group Freight Training
* Development & implementation of Supply Chain visibility tools and systems
* 3PL, Freight Forwarder and Carrier Global Management
* Freight Contract Management including Commercial Law and SOP Development
* Developing existing third party supplier base and monitoring, reviewing and driving their performance
* Managing the development and growth of supply routes and carrier activities
* Developing internal and external networks to ensure effective communication and representation between all operational areas.

Throughout your work you will ensure that all routes meet specific divisional and brand requirements and identify issues with current operating practice and deliver solutions. This all allow you to deliver and maintain the Business Development strategy and promote operational services to internal customers. Finally, you will build on your experience to set and achieve operational targets and profitability goals whilst managing performance of internal and external operations (whether KPI or revenue based).

Requirements

* Minimum 5 years' experience in Multi Modal International Global and Shipping Freight Management and Secondary Distribution
* Minimum 3 years' experience Freight Operations Management Experience in retail/logistics/supply chain (or a similar position)
* Graduate qualifications in Transportation & Logistics (preferable but not essential)
* Direct experience of working within shipping and managing highly complex global multiple brand supply chains to secure immediate, tactical and strategic solutions
* Knowledge of supply chain visibility systems, financial analysis and profit & loss responsibility
* Demonstrable Project Management Methodology applied within a Freight environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong influencing skills and be an excellent commercial negotiator. You will possess familiarity with Global Shipping and Customs Clearance Brokerage networks and have an existing understanding of the markets in which the organisation operates, allowing you to develop and refine our service and a create a profitable growth and revenue stream.
