Senior Data Architect

Job description / Role

Our esteemed Client considered the pioneer in the banking phenomenon known as Islamic Finance or Shari’a Compliant Banking has instructed us to recruit a Data Architect.

In our effort to become a Data Driven Organization, Infrastructure Data is viewed as a strategic key asset in our IT organization. Data enables processes, automation and decision taking. Therefore data has to be managed and maintained adequately to provide transparency and to ensure data completeness and accuracy. In order to improve the management and quality of infrastructure data, the new role of an Infrastructure Data Architect will be established in the organization.

This senior architect role has an important responsibility as the owner of the infrastructure data model, as well as, the strategic development and usage of infrastructure data. She/He is accountable for data domain and stakeholders to ensure that the infrastructure data domain supports the surrounding processes and tools in an effective, efficient and sustainable way.

Requirements

- Defines the strategic data scope of the data repositories and supports and reviews the implementation of the data domains
- Ensures the simple and effective access to infrastructure data, e.g. by defining and managing the service interfaces to infrastructure data
- Lead through the review process for data model changes in order to get a sign-off
- Owns the infrastructure data model and ensures the completeness and accuracy of the infrastructure data model
- Develop up and maintains the data dictionary framework to ensure that all relevant information to the infrastructure data model is available and managed
- Provides transparency about the infrastructure data model, its changes and strategic alignment
- Supports the data owners in the definition of their data, structures and ensures a proper alignment
- Supports the TDA across the broader infrastructure organization in the use of the data model
- Good leadership - take over functional responsibility of the infrastructure data model and the strategic and tactical development of the infrastructure data
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English is a must)
- Teamwork and communication/information sharing and true collaboration across organization/regions
- Ability to present to small/ large groups of technicians as well as board members
- Very good data modeling skills; understanding different data modeling methodologies and notations
- Client orientation: Good knowledge of the infrastructure environment and infrastructure data and the needs of an enterprise infrastructure organization to efficiently and reliably run services and infrastructure
- Understanding implications of processes, organization and business flows on infrastructure data
- Good understanding of Service Oriented Architecture principals
- Very good knowledge of current technologies in the IT Service/Operations Management, in particular of Service Asset and Configuration Management, and data center operations technologies area (all platforms: Windows, UNIX, and Mainframe; Service Management products, e.g. ServiceNow)
- Excellent understanding of data management best practices, state of the art, trends, market overview
- Master/PhD in Computer Science or Engineering
- Min 3-year working experience in data management area
- Min 5-year working experience in multiple sectors - technical expert, broad and in depth IT knowledge, hands-on experience, consultancy experienced preferred
- Understanding of Big Data, methodology, tools and Data Analysis would be an advantage
