Senior Technical Support Engineer (Network Services) - Kuwait

The Role

The Senior Technical Support Engineer Network Service's role is to manage the connectivity of network systems and connectivity and access services to ensure the stable operation of the organization's IT assets. This includes configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage the network services for the business to ensure maximum availability and performance at all times.
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
• Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network services including LAN, WAN, Email, Authentication/Active Directory, Application Services, Voice/Telephony and Video.
• Manage and ensure effectiveness of security (perimeter, edge and core) solutions, including firewalls, proxies, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
• Execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
• Document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing network services as necessary.

Position Requirements

• Formal Education & Certification
• University degree in the field of computer science/engineering or information systems (Master's degree preferred).
• Certifications in networking in the areas of Data and Voice, as well as Microsoft technologies especially Active Directory.
• Certification in ITIL and Security is desirable.

Knowledge & Experience

• At least 3-7 years work experience managing and configuring enterprise wide LANs, WANs & VPNs.
• Experience in managing or maintaining an international or large regional WAN with either MPLS or IPSEC VPNs.
• Experience in managing a large active directory service, ideally for a large organization with multiple offices, stores, warehouses regionally or globally.
• Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
• Proven experience in network design and development.
• Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.
• Working technical knowledge of current networking systems software, protocols, and standards.
• Proven project planning and management experience.
• Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Good working knowledge of ITIL, especially Systems Management practices, ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 best practices and standards and how they are applied to IT.
