Senior Technical Consultant

Job description / Role

Our esteemed client is a market leading provider of banking software systems to retail, corporate, universal, private, Islamic, micro-finance and community banks, wealth managers, and financial institutions.
Their software is proven in over 1,600 customer deployments in more than 150 countries across the world.

They require a Senior Technical Consultant who will be responsible for providing technical support and advice at client site throughout all technical stages of the Clients products implementation projects. The Technical Consultant focuses on solving basic technical problems but is exposed to more complex problems, and works under supervision from more senior consultant/manager.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Master the basic job duties and is gaining exposure to more complex functional problems. Is still occasionally directed in several aspects of the work; however more straightforward tasks are accomplished without assistance. Has acquired general proficiency in the tools, systems and procedures required to accomplish the job.
- Support in setting up the technical architecture and tools of the Client Services.
- Assist with the definition of additional standard enhancements that need to be developed.
- Undertake any development activities that may occur during the implementation such as additional specific functionality, interfacing to external systems, or conversion programs to be built.
- Install custom enhancements and validate technical setup and conduct necessary testing to ensure user acceptance and global quality of the solution delivered.
- Assist with the setting up of a production environment and on the running of the products including database administration.
- Provide clear and concise technical documentation for internal and external use.
- Provide regular update and feedback to project supervisor on implementation success, potential delays and technical problems that could arise so as to help achieve goals.
- Liaise with the Clients maintenance groups to ensure that the product problems encountered by the client are understood and resolved.
- Perform such other duties, functions and services, consistent with status or vocational ability, as may from time to time be required.

Specialize in one or more of the following technical areas:
- Technical architecture and best use of Client services tools.
- Configuration of Clients products or interfaces with the products to the definitions supplied
- Data migration and related activities.

Requirements

CLIENTS certifications: Minimum one technical stream

The Technical Consultant is required to pass the Clients certification or to acquire Clients certification within a limited time-frame (to be agreed with manager) in minimum one technical stream.

A certification is considered valid as long as the consultant has:
- successfully passed the certification examination
AND
- successfully implemented the module at client site during the course of significant projects.

Educational & Proficiency level: Professional with a minimum of one year of experience in software technical consultancy, ideally in a banking environment. Technical knowledge: INFOBASIC, JAVA, ORACLE 9 (or above) operating systems, knowledge and familiarity with the functionality of UNIX, AS400 and NT, particularly disc structures. Exposure to mainframes. Other: Analytical, organized, team player, and able to work in a multicultural environment
