Job description / Role
Following the recent win of a major rail project in Malaysia, my client has an urgent requirement for a Director of Safety, Health and Environment, based in their head office in Malaysia, with occasional site visits.
Reporting into the Project Director you will be responsible to develop, establish and improve the Health, Safety & Environment Management System in accordance with international standards and Malaysian law.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Interface and communicate with all departments and projects sites to develop and maintain the HSE management system.
- Review and recommend amendments to company and project HSE management system documents.
- Advise Project Director and Senior Manager on all SHE Matters
- Devise SHE objectives and targets and develop strategy for compliance
- Co-ordinate and manage feedback from stakeholders regarding SHE performance
- Monitor the SHE performance of contractors
- Manage HSE audit programs and all HSE reporting process
- Manage and assist with HSE Incident Investigations
- Co-ordinate and facilitate Project HSE meetings
- Liaise with relevant authorities and the client on HSE matters
- Manage the HSE Department – total of 80 staff
Requirements
- At least 25 years of working experience within HSE
- Minimum Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
- Good technical knowledge in Quality, Safety & Health and Environment
- Previously worked on rail projects and working experience in Asia Pacific region
- Good coaching, communication and presentation skills
- Able to communicate with all levels in the organization
- Excellent leadership, auditing, inter-personal, communication, presentation and analytical skills
- Well versed in working with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Power Point
