Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Performs routine maintenance, installation and repairs to electrical and power systems in the refinery, which may include process areas or utilities, work shop area or offices and laboratories. Includes liaising with operations staff to identify problems, carrying out inspections, taking appropriate action to remedy faults and carrying out regular maintenance and testing.

Responsibilities

Strategic
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and lubrication on electrical equipment.
- Revises existing systems and equipment in accordance with revised blueprints, drawings, work orders or verbal instructions.
- Ensures that all regulatory and safety devices, such as fuses, circuit breakers, over-current and under-voltage protection devices, and temperature rise protection measures are properly installed.

Operational
- Gives work direction to craftsmen or contractors by supervision.
- Receives verbal assignments and instructions together with dimensional sketches and wiring plans.
- Inspects circuits or appliances and determines extent of work required.
- Prepares field requisitions as necessary, and assembles tools, meters, materials and measuring equipment.
- Diagnoses, repairs and tests circuit or wiring faults, in facilities in proper sequence, using various kinds of electrical equipment, such as voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter and megger, etc., referring to wiring plans as necessary.
- Measures tolerances in electrical specifications.
- Locates faults in underground cables and arranges splicing and jointing repairs; checks electrical motors, reversible winches, generators, switchgear and air compressors, etc. and ensures that all connection points and cables are capable of withstanding designated capacity voltages, etc.
- Dismantles electrical equipment and replaces or repairs parts, such as starter switches, controls, elements, wiring, etc.
- Tests coil windings, checks motors for electrical integrity, tests insulation of equipment and reassembles, making proper internal and external connections. Includes industrial tools, incorporating small or large electric motors, starters or elements.
- Performs other similar or related duties as assigned, such as working at a variety of locations, maintaining tools and equipment in good order, observing all fire and safety regulations, keeping job sites and workshop clean and tidy, salvaging parts and materials where possible, etc.

Requirements

- Diploma degree - Electrical Engineering
- Six (6) years' experience in industrial electrical maintenance and repair work (preferably in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical industries
- Must have hands on experience in Electrical Maintenance
- Fair written and spoken English is required.
- Good in written and Spoken English is required.
- Good interpersonal, communication and PC skills.
