Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Objectives: To action tasks to maximize the reliability, availability and performance of the voice systems to enable efficient communications.

Main responsibilities:
- Install, maintain and troubleshot network components of the IT Data & Voice System infrastructure to ensure high levels of reliability, availability and performance.
- Maintain SA Data and Voice network.
- Configuration of network switches – Cisco 3750-3560-IE3000.
- Day to day admin and monitoring of network use through Cisco LMS and Nagios.
- Must have technical and configuration knowledge on Cisco wireless system - LWAP AP, WLC and WCS.
- Must have the understanding of Fiber optic cable and connector.
- Fluke testing tools understanding.
- Monitor, control and upgrade the SA unified messaging system including telephone and voice mail and troubleshooting.
- Support users and resolve problems
- Action MDF patching and connect the Analog phone at the required locations
- Configure and install faxes, M/Cs
- Action the regular backup for Call Manager, voice mail service and SRST
- Add new call search space and partition for changes dial pattern
- Coordinate with Omantel for any PRI link connectivity issues for all locations
- Restore the Call Manager and Voice Mail service following failure
- Manage the access control for SA’s various dial plans
- Install new features and roll out to the users with QRC
- Coordinate activities with support partners to enable configuration and other support activities
- Test and update the firmware of Servers hardware
- Recommend upgrades, where necessary
- Customer liaison / planning
- Liaise closely with departments to determine shut-down timetable and priorities
- Plan and re-plan shut-downs to address contingencies (eg: equipment not available; changing business needs). Consider SA operational requirements and impacts in planning
- Execute and monitor change control processes
- Document all changes
- Support the development and maintenance of SOPs
- Gather and analyse data to inform infrastructure decision-making; report against KPIs
- Gather system performance data and daily operational data (eg: observations, user feedback). Analyse the data
- Report on the performance of the equipment (eg: availability, reliability, maintainability)
- Make recommendations on ways to optimize outcomes (cost vs performance and longevity)

Requirements

- Bachelor Degree in IT or a related field plus 3 years of relevant IT experience,

Certification:
- CIPT1 and CIPT2, CCNA is preferred

Specialist knowledge:
- Good knowledge in Cisco IP telephony and unity voice mail systems
- In-depth knowledge of IP telephony systems design and devices profile
- Extensive infrastructure experience
- Able to read and interpret IT documents and specifications
- Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills

Knowledge of:
- Analog telephony system
- Telephone security design and devices
- Various systems hardware
- Tools to monitor device-health and performance
