Job description / Role
- Supervises the staff in the laboratory, gives them a sense of direction and leadership to ensure smooth and timely functioning of all activities.
- Performs a full range of clinical laboratory tests and examinations in all sections of the laboratory.
- Collects blood specimens from the patients, evaluates specimens received to determine suitability for testing.
- Ensures that the laboratory tests and procedures are properly entered “on-line” in the System and billed accordingly to the Clients.
- Prepares, double checks and logs all the specimens for send-out to the Reference Laboratory.
- Processes specimens in the assigned section, checks and enters the results in the System.
- Provides clerical support including processing incoming and outgoing lab reports, making copies, maintaining and organizing filing systems.
- Follows established lab procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting and maintains records of results.
- Assists the Technician in performing scheduled maintenance of the lab instruments in their assigned section.
- Performs basic Quality Control procedures.
- Participates in quality improvement programs.
- Follows and regularly practices the Lab Safety procedures.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of the Department.
- Stock maintenance – reagents controls, calibration and consumables.

Qualification
- Bachelors (in the field of Medical Technology)
- Basic computer knowledge
- Good command in English
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
- Living / will to stay in Duqum
- Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining technical laboratory equipment
- The ability to learn and follow specific scientific techniques
- Ability to use technical equipment with maximum accuracy and efficiency
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Strong time management skills
- Interpersonal skills
