Our client is seeking a Legal Counsel to undertake the delivery of precise, commercial and timely legal counsel in respect of all company activities relating to its role as an operator of E&P licenses, enabling the success of the business through effective management of legal risk and cost, supporting the needs of the business (particularly key departments such as C&P, projects and operations).

Role & Responsibilities:
* Ensure the effective delivery of legal counsel across business departments and support on regulatory compliance in Oman.
* Advise key members within the business departments in the understanding of legal risks and liabilities.
* Advise, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, preparation/review of tender documents, update template contracts, tender packages and other relevant precedents, ensure internal compliance with regulatory requirements relating to contract administration, provide legal training, provide legal support, discovery and negotiation of disputed matters.
* Provide oversight of functional legal risk and management, proactively identifying and effectively managing legal risk and compliance and associated costs.
* Lead by personal example and encourage all employees to conduct their activities in accordance with all applicable laws and the Group's standards and policies.
* Perform complex legal analysis and problem solving, including effective communication

Requirements

* Minimum 2:1 honors LLB degree or equivalent in a common-law jurisdiction.
* Qualified as a solicitor preferably with the Law Society of England & Wales, alternatively in the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand and with a valid and current practicing certificate.
* Ideally the candidate will be between 10 - 15 years PQE
* In?house company commercial experience in Energy, Oil & Gas is a firm requirement.
* Training and postqualification experience at a global law firm in Energy, Oil & Gas is a definite plus. Corporate/commercial experience: exposure to oil and gas related commercial contracts, litigation/dispute resolution, regulatory matters and IP
* Complex legal analysis and problem solving skills
* Strong commercial drafting skills and detailed knowledge of industry practices and standards
* Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex legal analysis and advice to a wide range of end?users with differing levels of understanding
* Technical excellence
* Ability to initiate and implement solutions
* Previous work experience and residency in Oman or the GCC is a definite plus

Our client offers a competitive salary and package. This is a residential based role in Muscat, Oman with family status and schooling allowances available as well as flights, accommodation allowance, medical and bonuses.
