Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Purpose:
- To carry out fraud investigations in timely and efficient manner in line with the Bank’s internal procedures, best practices, IIA Standards etc.
- To assist AGM - IAD in providing assurance to the Board of Directors of the Bank on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls pertaining to the audit of Head Office Departments and Branches.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Scheduling and planning the investigations upon receipt of management approval.
- Determine the objectives, scope, efforts estimation, approach and methodology, timelines and other details as required by the Audit Manual or as guided by AGM - IAD, prior to commencing investigation or other related assignment.
- Carry out Investigations and other related assignments in accordance with the approved plans and methodology as per the Internal Audit Manual or as guided by AGM-IAD, with objectivity and in a professional manner.
- Interview staff, record and obtain statements/ evidences where necessary in relation to the matters under investigation.
- Report to AGM - IAD / DHIAD when the findings of an unusual and alarming nature are identified during investigations which require urgent attention on an immediate basis.
- Maintain confidentiality of investigations’ results, parties involved and other matters pertaining to the investigations.
- Obtain feedback from the concerned person in the prescribed format to assist in evaluating the work performed by the investigations team, at the end of each assignment.
- Update investigation findings and other related evidences in the Audit Management System and generate required reports.
- Coordinate with concerned regulatory bodies or other authorities such as CBO, Royal Oman Police (ROP), legal prosecutors etc. for providing required information/ clarifications or documents, where applicable.
- Ensure that all HO departments/Branches comply with the Bank’s rules, regulations, procedures and standards and ensure robustness and soundness of internal processes, policies and procedures across the Bank.
- Ensure adherence to International Standards and Best Practices/legislations, where applicable.
- Carry out process studies/analysis of business processes in order to identify possible gaps and promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the Bank.
- Facilitate assigned process improvement events using methods of culture-appropriate team building, team energizing, data gathering and analysis, problem solving, project management and state of the art presentation and platform skills.
- Review of internal policies, procedures, product schemes and Charters of various Board/Management Committees and suggest value added recommendations.
- Assist AGM - IAD or DHIAD in scheduling the audits and other assignments and in achieving the annual audit plan.
- Determine areas of risks in Head Office Department functions, in order to focus on the key risk areas while conducting reviews.
- Prepare a Risk Based Audit Plan prior to commencing each audit or other assignment encompassing scope , effort estimation, details of job allocation, sampling, audit procedures, timelines and other details as required by the Internal Audit Manual.
- Supervise and manage the audits/ other assignments in a professional manner in accordance with the approved plans and internal audit methodology as per the Internal Audit Manual.
- Ensure participation in all important discussions and interactions with the audit partners.
- Supervise and manage the work of audit team members, in addition to discharging the duties of an individual auditor in any assignment.
- Ensure the audit report is reviewed, finalized and issued as per the agreed timeline.
- Ensure that the audit working paper file is properly maintained as per the Bank’s Internal Audit manual.
- Obtain feedback from the audit partners at the end of each audit / assignment to assist in evaluating the work performed by the audit team.
- Perform all other related and compatible duties as assigned by the AGM - IAD and DHIAD.
- Review legal contracts / documents as required.
- Transfer knowledge & impart training as required.

Requirements

Should be a degree holder; Candidates with qualifications and working experience in Banking & Finance and Legal would only be considered.

Audit qualifications /CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) certification would be added advantage.

Minimum of 2 years’ previous experience in conducting investigations in financial institution/s is required.

Candidates should be able to independently handle relevant regulatory/ legal matters concerning investigations.
