Job description / Role
In 2011, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said decreed the establishment of a new university dedicated to scholarship and research in science and technology with a mandate to expand the nation’s higher education capacity significantly and spur economic growth.
Our Client, the University of Oman Project (UOP) is the project phase of the University of Oman which is expected to become operational by August 2018.
The University of Oman Project seek to employ the services of an Academic Affairs Advisor to join its project team.
The successful candidate is expected among other things to:
- Direct all UOP phases – engineering (basic and detailed), procurement, construction and commissioning/start-up.
- Control UOP plans by reviewing designs and specifications. Plan and schedule changes and recommend actions.
- Lead Project Teams and facilitate the communication and interaction among the functional representatives.
- Review and verify project estimates monthly. Manage the project budget and control expenses effectively. Track costs and reports against budget
- Maintain a strategic focus of the project with frequent interaction with the related units to ensure a balance between the immediate project needs and the long term goals of the University.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- 10 years of experience in a managerial role in an engineering or construction firm including 5 years of project management experience.
