Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

As the Section Head – General Ledger you will be responsible for the General Ledger, Trial balance and other financial statements. The department ensures these are prepared on a timely basis; accurately reflect the financial position of the company and adhere to relevant accounting standards.

Core Responsibilities:

You will be responsible of the following:

• Focal point for the coordination of external audit queries relating to respective accounts in this area and for the queries relating to the overall reported results.
• Coordinates, reviews and posts General Ledger journals in his area. Advises and gives steer to chart of accounts set-up to support analysis and reporting requirements.
• Ensures sub-ledgers are reconciled on a timely basis. Gives steer to staff and assists in investigating and resolving any discrepancies in this area.
• Monitors and ensures GL closing including associated sub-ledgers are done as per schedule and reviews results to ensure balance sheet and associated P and L entries are accurate.
• Proactively tackles internal audit points in his area and gives comprehensive responses and takes or coordinates proactive action in closing internal audit queries.
• Investigates analyses and explains movements in Balances / P and L between different periods. Prepares reconciliation of GL accounts in their respective area.
• Key responsibility for the preparation of the financial Schedules in this specific area and the coordination of the total financial statement including narration and consistency checks.
• Monitors CIP, capitalization process and any other related matters
• Ensures all the tax returns are filed on time; their queries are answered and liaise with the tax authorities and to provide the required information for the completion of annual assessments internally or externally.
• Focal point for the coordination of external audit and ICOFR consultant queries related to GL area.

Requirements

• You should have a minimum of 8 years of related experience of accounting with exposure to financial accounting in a large organization, knowledge of oracle financials, sound knowledge and proven experience of GL accounting processes and procedures, fluent in written and spoken English & Arabic, MS Office proficiency with a bachelor's degree in finance or similar.
