Job description / Role
You will be responsible of creating innovative and original solutions on area VAS and work with different departments in Ooredoo to justify and launch those innovations, technical research on new emerging topics related to VAS, and presenting them (technically and commercially) to rest of VAS team and other related departments in Ooredoo.
Work with the commercial departments to build up the relevant business cases, capacity management of existing VAS/Systems/Services, suggesting and working on initiatives to maximise profit and reduce cost in the area of VAS, preparing RFQs and taking lead of or participate in new systems/services tendering, working on multiple major projects requiring innovative solutions that advance Ooredoo Network, not limited to VAS area, and including technical cross-functional ones, working on a long term plan that affects the success of the VAS department’s mission that involves the use of advanced telecom and IT principles, theories and concepts, taking part in budgeting and manpower estimation processes, providing support and guidance to several groups in the organisation, creating and keeping up-to-date technical documentation and diagrams of various platforms and services, keeping up-to-date VAS dashboard(s) and exercising comprehensive discretion in setting & implementing goals within the department’s and company’s targets and goals.
Requirements
You should have a minimum of 6 years of relevant VAS or similar experience in a GSM operator or vendor with excellent project management, able to effectively train his/her work group and effectively lead work teams within the work group, expert level in Unix or Linux, Networking, Database Administration/SQL, programming/shell scripting, deep understanding of the GSM and GPRS networks, and all VAS nodes functionalities and protocols, deep understanding of SS7 signalling, IP protocol stack, Diameter, functionality of different VAS nodes (SMSC, MMSC, WAP GW, Voice Mail, Call Completion, Collect Call, USSD, Ring Back Tunes, Roaming Services, ADC/OTA, etc.), with a bachelor degree in computer science or Electronics/Telecom Engineering from an accredited university.
