Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

In light of ORPIC’s expansion plan, we are inviting experienced Oil Refinery Chemists to apply for the post of Senior Laboratory Technician.

Reporting to the Team Leader, the role will be based in Sohar, Oman and is expected to provide technical leadership to our present corps of Lab Technicians.

General Accountability / Role of the Job
- Conducts analysis of critical process and special samples during refinery test runs, unit start-up, unit upset and troubleshooting. Knowledgeable with refinery product specification and capable to perform complete analysis of Final products (LPG, Propylene, JetA1, Diesel, Gasoline, Benzene, Paraxylene, Bitumen, Sulfur, Coke).
- Preferably worked in refinery laboratory with the following process units: CDU, VDU, MEROX, GHDS, DHDS, HGU, ARU, SRU, SWS, RFCC, HCU, BBU, DCU, ISOM.
- Supervise and execute training plan for Lab. Technicians and new hires related but not limited to equipment, performance of testing procedure, process chemistry with a combination of on the job and classroom training.
- Conducts calibration, standardization and troubleshooting of critical equipment (e.g. GCs, RON, analyser like sulphur, etc).
- Perform reagent preparation and standardization.
- Perform WWT, utilities, process chemicals testing, corrosion testing.
- Reviews and approved test results in LIMS.
- Coordinate with operation regarding sampling, critical tests, blending studies, test runs and plant troubleshooting activities.
- Extensive knowledge in petroleum test methods, test significance, test precision and test method alternatives
- Strong knowledge on normal process limits and impact of results to process.
- Able to take over the roles of Shift leader in the absence of the latter.
- Know how to prepare a product Certificate of Quality using LIMS and SAP.

Requirements

- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
- Minimum 10 years working experience in an oil refinery Laboratory
- Good communication (verbal and writing) skills including English
- Good IT skills with respect to LIMS, SAP, MS office
- Has leadership capabilities and professional by character
