We are now accepting applicants for a major infrastructure development program in the West Bank and Gaza, involving transportation, water supply, wastewater treatment, energy and other facilities components.

The Environmental Manager supports the technical management of the overall project by ensuring that all projects, whether in planning, design, or implementation stage, are inspected and conducted in an environmentally sound fashion and comply with US Government Law 22 CFR216, USAID Environmental Procedures. Responsibilities include:
- Establish environmental examination procedures and manual for project operations.
- Familiarity with various forms of environmental pollution including air, soil, ground and surface water, noise, radiation, waste disposal, construction impact and related causes desirable.
- Prepare, or supervise preparation of, all environmental assessments, initial environmental examinations (IEE), and environmental management and mitigation plans (EMMP) in accordance with 22 CFR 216.
- Guide and train project staff in conducting environmental assessments and monitoring.
- Work with Monitoring & Evaluation Team to provide necessary field and testing information to assure compliance with USAID and local government regulations.
- When deemed necessary, coordinate and initiate the work for full environmental impact assessments (EIA).
- Coordinates with and informs the QA Manager on the status of environmental evaluation and assessment of the project portfolio.
- Maintain organized records and prepare periodic required reports to management.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental or a related engineering or science degree from an accredited university.
- Minimum 7 years specific project experience in environmental assessment and mitigation in infrastructure projects, preferably with water, wastewater, roads, and similar construction.
- Familiarity with environmental protection standards and procedures, particularly USAID requirements.
- Experience with previous USAID programs a plus.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English.
- Experience in West Bank/Gaza preferred.
