Employment: Full Time

Under the general direction of the Financial Accounting Manager, is responsible for assisting in the preparation and administration of various books and records of the Finance Department in compliance with WCMC-Q, WCMC-NY and CU policies and procedures. Responsibilities include account reconciliations and analysis of the general ledger, preparation of journal entries and maintenance of WCMC-Q’s accounting system.

POSITION ACTIVITIES
- Provides the highest possible customer service standards and acts as a liaison with all departments and their external collaborators in relation to financial matters.
- Assists in the preparation, maintenance and development of WCMC-Q’s various books and records including assembling and analyzing financial information.
- Prepares a variety of monthly, quarterly, year end and ad-hoc financial schedules and reports as required by management and funding institutions. Prepares various analyses to provide periodic status, utilization trends and reconciliation statements.
- Ensures adherence to all US generally accepted accounting principles, and WCMC-Q and WCMC accounting practices and reporting requirements.
- Assists auditors in performing their audit procedures and in resolution of their queries.
- Maintains various internal controls over the assets and accounts of the College’s accounting activity including review and approval of documentation and accuracy of various accounting records such as journal entries, purchase orders and disbursements. Corresponds with all levels of WCMC-Q academic and non academic staff in financial and internal control matters.
- Assists finance leadership in the preparation and timely completion of monthly/quarterly operating and capital expense reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

- BA BS in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three or more years of professional level accounting experience in the areas of revenue, expense, assets and liabilities with at least three years in computerized accounting environment with SAP or similar ERP software.
- Previously demonstrated advanced level multi-tasking ability in a results oriented environment.
- Previously demonstrated advanced level excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced English language skills (reading writing speaking).
- Prior experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
- Previously demonstrated advanced level experience with Microsoft Office products; including Excel, Word, Power Point and Access.
- Previously demonstrated advanced level organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills.
- Previously demonstrated ability to work independently, self start and safeguard confidential information.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Prior experience with SAP (FI Module and Business Intelligence Reports)
- Prior working experience in an educational, medical and research environment
- Bilingual in English and Arabic

Work typically takes place in a normal office environment requiring:
