Reporting to the Executive Director – Organisation Development, the Assistant Executive Director Organisational Development plays a pivotal role in enabling the delivery of the highest standard of healthcare to patients and clients through the creation of a progressive employment environment.

The role holder will contribute to the development of Organisation Development strategies and plans and will support the Chief’s, Chief Executives and corporate clinical leaders with their delivery. The change strategies that the role holder will help create and implement will be wide ranging.

Seeking short and long term change in culture, systems and processes to improve organisational performance for the benefit of patients and drive leadership and management development.

The role holder will have a number of direct reports who will have responsibility for driving the efficiency and effectiveness of HMC’s workforce through improvements to structures, systems and processes.

Close collaboration with executive colleagues will be of paramount importance in order to secure the engagement of all staff with the Corporations mission, vision and values.

The role holder will be responsible for influencing the development of a corporate culture that is characterised by a patient focus and performance delivery capability.

Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development and Implementation - Work with the client base and help them ensure a localized strategy is in place for the hospital or corporate department. There will also be a requirement to support the corporate business planning process.
- Organisational Design – As the corporation changes and responds to the external environment, working with clients, review and propose changes the organisational structures within the HMC to assist in the achievement of its goals.
- Consultancy. Provide a high level of consultancy to Chiefs and senior leaders across the corporation. A detailed understanding of the consultancy cycle will be required from entry to exit. The role holder will be expected to diagnose complex issues presented to them by senior leaders. An extensive diagnostic toolkit is required.
- Systems and Process Improvement - The role holder will be required to work with internal clients to map out existing internal processes and identify how these processes can be improved to increase speed, satisfaction and experience.
- Change Management – Develop bespoke change management tools to assist managers in the delivery of programmes of change in their areas of responsibility.
- Coaching. Provide coaching to senior leaders and teams on a range of organisational wide issues. While a professional coaching qualification is not pre requisite for the role, the ability and willingness to coach senior leaders on complex change problems will be required.
- Team Development - The role holder will be required to work with leadership teams to identify opportunities for the teams increased performance, Strong facilitation skills will be required to take executive teams through a team development process.
- Conflict Resolution – The role holder will be available to help resolve organisational conflict that may arise. A working understanding on conflict resolution frameworks is required.
- Program / Project Management – The role holder will manage a portfolio of projects on behalf of the team. They will be required to create and manage a range of project management documents and action these to ensure project delivery. Stakeholder mapping, project planning, risk identification and project evaluation will all be requirements of the role.
- Team management. The role holder will be responsible for managing 1 or more Organisational change managers. This will involve ensuring that their project portfolio is progressing in line with the overall team delivery plan, providing performance related feedback and providing coaching as necessary.
- Leadership Support. The role holder will contribute to the creation of a Centre for Leadership and Management, its strategic direction and its ongoing operations. As such the post holder will take a leading role in developing and nurturing HMC’s future leadership capability.
- Conflict Resolution – The role holder will be a point person to help resolve organisational conflict that may arise in the organisation. A working understanding on conflict resolution frameworks is required.

Requirements

- Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree
- Preferred Education: n/a
- Minimum Experience: 10 years senior experience of which 6 years in an HR, OD or leadership development role
- Preferred Experience: Whilst healthcare experience is not required, some experience in this sector would be an advantage.
- Language Skills: English essential / Arabic preferred
- Computer Skills: Competent with MS Office Packages
