Georgetown University-Qatar (GU-Q) is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for the role of Assistant Director of Risk and Compliance.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Assistant Director for Risk and Compliance (AD) will be responsible for overseeing the activities necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate and manage GU-Q’s operational and strategic risks.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process and framework for GU-Q, reporting to GU Main Campus Risk team on status;
- Chair, oversee and implement the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and ERM Committee;
- Oversee the Threat and Risk assessment framework at GU-Q, reporting to the COO and ERT on a periodic basis, and be apprised of and up to date on regional security;
- Oversee worker welfare for GU-Q and QF service providers working in the GU-Q building;
- Coordinate Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for GU-Q;
- Implement a risk audit schedule, process and follow-up;
- Ensure business continuity procedures are in place that will ensure minimal disruption to the core activities of GU-Q with adequate training and regular testing;
- In conjunction with the main campus risk team, define and implement GU-Q insurance requirements;
- Define, manage and maintain the Emergency Response and Evacuation Plan;
- Maintain emergency response systems, such as the emergency operations centers on-site and off-site, communications systems—satellite phone, emergency alert systems, calling tree—and immigration information;
- Be available 24/7 to address emergency situations;
- Work closely with Student Development at GU-Q to assess risks related to student programs and activities, including international travel and programs, and work to minimize them;
- Liaise with QF migrant welfare team and main campus stakeholders to address issues as they arise;
- Ensure that GU-Q operations adhere to local laws and international best practices with regard to safety, security and environment.

This position is based in Doha, Qatar.

Requirements

- Master’s degree in Business preferred with a concentration in business administration, risk management, strategic planning, or a related field;
- 5+ years of managing special projects and/or experience in working on enterprise level risk management processes;
- Demonstrable knowledge of Risk Management best practices;
- Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, FERPA, HIPPA requirements;
- Knowledge of UK/EU workplace safety regulations is advantageous;
- Certifications in risk management or project management is a plus;
- Strong understanding of non-profit higher education;
- Highly developed people management/influencing skills;
- Evidence of having been successful in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment;
- Previous work experience in higher education and/or the Middle East or another rapidly developing region is highly advantageous;
- Proficiency with MS Office and standard enterprise management applications.
