Business Unit Manager - Qatar

Qatar is booming and the retail sector is following suit. Our client, a leading retailer and wholesaler is currently experiencing further expansion and growth and they are now seeking an experienced Retail professional to join their team as their Business Unit Manager to develop and manage new business opportunities and strategies to drive their business forward.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:
- To understand the business processes across multiple functions.
- To understand corporation's vision, goals and strategies.
- To develop business improvement strategies, which drive significant impact and growth and achieve company vision and goals.
- Identify new business opportunities with retail concepts / brands and negotiate them with the Executive Team
- Create new business ideas, scenarios and transform ideas into a profitable business.
- Ensure the business maintains entrepreneur and investor level in Qatar and the GCC market.
- Perform feasibility studies to ensure success of new business ideas including legal, local, government regulations and business setup process.
- Budget Management.
- Ensure resources are available to meet the long-range operational demands of the projects and goals of the company.
- Regular international and local travel as required.

Requirements

- Degree in Retail or similar qualification.
- 15+ years’ retail experience is essential, with proven experience in developing new retail markets, including new countries, new business development, new brand development, particularly for sports and lifestyle brands.
- Ideally have worked for large structured retail companies holding senior positions.
- Must possess sound financial management and strong analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of Middle East retail industry and market.
- Excellent work ethic, strong leadership qualities and a focused team player are critical attributes.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc., is required.
