Employment: Full Time

Charterhouse is working with a Ports Authority in Qatar who is looking to hire an experienced Buyer to support the Head of Procurement for the procurement of goods and services for the port management industry.

As the Buyer, you will be responsible for vendor and supplier management including building and maintaining strong relationships, negotiation on prices and market research on the prices, as well as measuring and evaluating the performance of the vendors and suppliers. You will develop new supply sources in consultation with internal departments whenever existing vendors cannot supply, whilst keeping costs to a minimum, but the quality of a high standard. You will also be responsible for dealing with logistics of the goods, raising purchase orders and following up with suppliers to ensure ordered materials and products are received within agreed time frames.

Requirements

The successful candidate should hold a Degree in Supply Chain Management or similar discipline. You should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement within the ports/terminal industry with strong knowledge of procurement techniques, policies and procedures. A strong background in analysing and planning optimal sourcing and procurement strategies is required, along with outstanding negotiation and stakeholder management skills. You should have a good understanding of the local or regional customs rules and regulations, and will be fluent in Arabic and English. Candidates based in Qatar must be able to obtain an NOC.
