Employment: Full Time

POSITION OVERVIEW
Claims Management, including letter writing, issue of contract notices, administration of Engineer’s delegated powers and compliance with Client’s contract administration and claims procedures. Also responsible for Contractual interpretation as part of dispute avoidance and or Contract administration strategy. The Claims Manager shall be capable of managing relationships with all personnel within the Client’s team, Contractor and others so as to receive all necessary information and support regarding the administration of Claims

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Generally monitor and report on issues that may result in delay or claim and advise on any risks that will affect the overall timely delivery of the project or significant cost escalation or potential opportunities for cost reduction. Provide proactive advice so as to minimize claim and delay

• Manage the Claims team
• Training of the Claims team
• Implement the Consultant’s Claims process (Contractor’s and Employer’s claims) during the contract lifecycle
• Proactively manage, control, and report on the claims activities and co-ordinate with related engineering, project controls, cost and change control activities
• Maintain updated trackers and liaise with Contractor, Client Project team and Client C&P as required
• Independently prepare Employer’s claims. Review and administer Contractor’s claims submissions
• Process and submit Employer and Contractor’s Claims Recommendation packs to Client Contracts and Procurement
• Draft and issue contract correspondence and notices as required
• Contribute to the updating of reports and process metrics for review by management, to support weekly and monthly reporting to the Client
• Coordinates the negotiations regarding claims
• Write papers and other Contractual interpretation as part of dispute avoidance and or Contract administration strategy
• Interface and partner with appropriate contacts and stakeholders to support the project and other contract administration functions
• Carries out the Consultant Services required for this position and deemed to represent the minimum acceptable qualifications for the Services
• Create and promote a continuous improvement approach among the team members
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate / required
• Coordinates and supports evaluation of proposed claims and the consequences in case of changes, delays etc
• Contacts and interacts with Client’s team and Contractor with regards to all contract administration matters having an impact on the project
• Establish strong relationships with counterparts of Client and Contractor
• Develop awareness of Client critical issues

Requirements

BSc degree (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or an Engineering discipline

Minimum 15 years experience as Claims, Contracts or Commercial Manager. Successfully leads team of Claim and Contract Administrators, Quantity Surveyors and other Contracts/Commercial staff

Minimum 5 years experience as Contracts or Commercial Manager on a large rail systems project with a strong focus on Claims

Demonstrate extensive experience in a similar role on a comparable international transit system
