Compliance Manager (Non-Operation) - Qatar Airways - Doha

As Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the entire Qatar Airways group has the necessary data protection and compliance frameworks and processes in place and maintained across all business activities, to protect electronic and hard copy personal and sensitive information. You will be responsible for undertaking a period of research to support, and to develop a project plan for ensuring data protection and information management best practice across the organisation, and managing the implementation, that required to oversee the ongoing audit and compliance checking of data protection across Qatar Airways. You will also co-ordinate the design and set-up of a new shared network drive, electronic records and document management structure and associated protocols.

* Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks. Identifies potential areas of privacy-compliance vulnerability and risk, develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
* Evaluate testing procedures to meet the specifications of environmental monitoring programs.
* Establish and govern an enterprise data protection implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities.
* Roll out an enterprise wide data protection framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behaviour policies and standards, principles, protection metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture.
* Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
* Responsible for ongoing review and update of Data Policy ensuring it is compliant with key regulation and HR strategy, work with the central Data Governance function to raise awareness of data protection legislation and regulation and drive a culture of data security across HR.
* Project managing the data protection pro bono support, providing advice and guidance in shaping the Group Company data protection project plan, and ensuring agreed implementation steps are timely and compliant.
* Oversee the roll out of our data protection project plan, working with relevant managers and colleagues at the operational and office locations to ensure data protection compliance. Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline the expense related to those services.
* Provides reports on a regular basis and as directed or requested to keep senior management and the Corporate Compliance Team informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts. Prepares high level presentations and reports for senior management.

Requirements

You will have a Bachelors Degree with preferably a Masters degree in (international/business) law.

In addition, you will have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience gained from a major services organization, with large-scale data or project management and oversight involvement. You will have experience in the aviation industry.

Job Specific Skills and Experience:

* Strong knowledge of Data Protection Legislation, GDPR and DPA rules including impact and risk assessments.
* Experience in data integrity management, data classification and handling and data auditing, with a good working knowledge of data security practices.
* Good understanding of risk and the role of risk in privacy compliance
* Experience with performance management and cost control principles.
* Command of English language to excellent level in verbal and written form
* Personal credibility, integrity and high moral standards
* People and team orientated, focuses on results, embraces innovation and change
* Excellent ability to understand how and where compliance can add real value to the organization combined with the ability to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the structure and delivery of compliance functions.
* Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.

Preferred:

* Working knowledge of the Data Protection Act and an understanding of the implications of current proposals to strengthen the European regulations.
* Knowledge of Information Security principles and practice.
