Due to continued success in the country we are now seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our already established team in Qatar. The position is to manage the main contractor and associated subcontractors for the construction of a new build and fit out of a 5 star hotel.

The Construction Manager will manage and oversee the contractors supervision staff, ensure that Health and Safety requirements are implemented on site, whilst maintain a high quality end product.

The Construction Manager will be providing technical advice to the supervision staff, approving the contractor’s method statements and ensuring that the contractor adheres to their 3 week look-ahead programme and overall programme. Reviewing progress on a weekly basis with the project planner and contractor’s project Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Health and safety of all staff deployed on site.
- Ensure that the contractors have appropriate method statements and risk assessments for every activity they perform.
- Management of the contractors in respect to QA/QC performance.
- The successful candidate will oversee all labour and subcontractors on site, and be responsible for the overall workmanship.
- Monitoring all work executed, at all stages, snagging of all works sign off responsibility of the finished product
- Working on Projects from inception to completion for example, taking client enquiry/suggestion, specifying and designing solution, producing pricing and proposal, liaising with client and taking order for project and ensuring delivery of project via the companies employees and subcontractors
- Ensure that project milestones and objectives are achieved and projects delivered on time and within budget
- Accountable day-to-day to the client, and internally our Project Manager
- Professional interface with other disciplines and the client’s representative
- Line management responsibility for a project team and indirectly for sub-contractors

Requirements

- Western educated, degree holder in Civil Engineering is desirable.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant new builds, refurbishment/ fit out of hospitality, properties.
- Chartered Member of RICS, or similar institute
- Have a minimum of 3 years Middle East high rise hospitality experience with Qatar experience as a preference
- Recent experience working on large scale residential construction projects in the Middle East.
- Delivery of a number of fit out, maintenance and refurbishment projects - mainly in high end and boutique Hotels.
- Ability to manage contractors and contracts labour work force
- Effective team control and building of team spirit/culture
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in internal fit-out from 2nd fix onwards
- Retaining existing clients for further work and securing new clients
- Demonstrate an understanding of overall project requirements and the ability to advise client’s knowledgably on overall project management issues
- Demonstrate effective leadership and high commitment in order to achieve goals
- Excellent communications skills; including report writing.
- Eye for detail and a track record of managing sub-contractors to deliver a high quality finish.
- Effective people management skills, including training and mentoring less experienced members of staff.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in respect of international contracts requirements as applicable to large scale construction contracts.
- Thorough understanding of construction forms and techniques including construction costs, and ability to knowledgably advise the client.
- Familiarity with contractual obligations, breaches and remedies.
