We are also the first hospital system in the Middle East to achieve institutional accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education - International (ACGME-I), which demonstrates excellence in the way medical graduates are trained through residency, internship and fellowship programs

We are looking to appoint a number of full time Consultant & Senior Consultant Anesthetists to join our JCI accredited General Hospital on a permanent basis.

Hamad General Hospital is a modern, 603-bed facility providing highly specialized and complex care to the people of Qatar.

It offers a wide range of medical care and clinical services, including trauma, emergency medicine, pediatrics, critical care, specialized and sub-specialized surgery, specialized medicine, laboratory medicine, diagnostic imaging and adult rehabilitation services.

The hospital, which opened in 1982, provides expert inpatient care, a large Outpatient Department providing more than 65 specialty clinics, a highly developed Emergency Department, five intensive care units, eight operating theaters and a large pharmacy. Modern diagnostic facilities including laboratory, medicine, pathology and radiology facilities support all therapeutic services.

We are a committed team of multidisciplinary professionals who, as a department, have received awards from COS and have Joint Commission International Accreditation.

The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is also run by the Anesthetics Department and takes care of all serious surgical cases before, during and after an operation. We also have a pain management team which runs clinics and a separate department for chronic pain cases.

The most frequent diagnostic services provided by our department include:
- Evaluation of surgical patients
- Peri and post operative care for surgical patients
- Post operative care for serious surgical cases
- Pain treatment for acute pain cases
- Pain management clinics for chronic pain patients.

Requirements

We would like to hear from Consultant Anesthetists, particularly those who have an interest in the following areas:
- Ambulatory Care
- Critical Care
- Neurosurgical
- Neurological
- Obstetric
- Orthopedic
- Pediatric
- Trauma

Our consultant s are responsible for organizing, monitoring, and maintaining the services provided in order to achieve the highest possible level of patient care with optimum utilization of the available resources.

You will develop work plans for specialists and other members of the team and performs all relevant interventions related to your field of specialization. You will also perform health education through orientation and scientific presentations.

You will work closely with a wide range of departments including our National Center for Cancer Care & Research,

Ideally you will have experience of Blocks, Regional and General anesthesia procedures.

We expect our Consultant Anesthetists to have:
- Primary medical degree from a recognized medical school
- UK/US/European Board certification
- Between six months and two years clinical experience after Residency (depending upon training programme)
- Experience of undergraduate/postgraduate teaching
- Excellent verbal and written English is essential
- A second language is preferred

In addition we ask that Senior Consultants have held a Consultant post for a minimum of six consecutive years and have teaching, research and administrative experience
