Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

HMC has been the principal public healthcare provider in the State of Qatar for over three decades, and is dedicated to delivering the safest, most effective and most compassionate care to each and every one of our patients.

HMC manages eight hospitals, incorporating five specialist hospitals and three community hospitals. HMC also manages the National Ambulance Service as well as home healthcare, both accredited by Joint Commission International. While HMC continues to upgrade its facilities and services, it has also embarked on an ambitious expansion program, targeting the areas of need in our community.

We are leading the development of the region's first academic health system and we are committed to building a legacy of healthcare expertise in Qatar. We collaborate with partners who are key experts in Qatar and beyond, including Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Partners Healthcare, Boston.

We are also the first hospital system in the Middle East to achieve institutional accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education - International (ACGME-I), which demonstrates excellence in the way medical graduates are trained through residency, internship and fellowship programs

We are now recruiting experienced Consultants Accident & Emergency

The Emergency Department is based within Hamad General Hospital, which has one of the busiest emergency departments in the world, with over 500,000 patient attendances each year.

HMC’s vision is to be distinguished as the leading center for emergency medical care in the Gulf region, through introduction of new services and improvement of existing provision to ensure the highest quality of patient care for the increasing number of clients requiring our services.

The clinical service benefits from state of the art equipment used for better and faster treatment of a variety of emergency patients. The Emergency Department at Hamad General has thirteen distinct clinical areas including a “See & Treat” area, introduced in 2011 to provide care for less seriously ill patients, short stay units, urgent care areas, resuscitation and trauma rooms.

This model has resulted in better streaming of patients and reduced congestion in the department and throughout the hospital.

Application for level one trauma center status, accredited by the American College of Surgeons, is in process. There are currently 433 nurses and 161 doctors on staff, along with 20 fellows and 40 residents

We are constructing a new Trauma and Emergency Department, a three-fold expansion of the existing Emergency Department, which will cater for the widest range of illnesses and injuries, with a focus on patients presenting with life-threatening medical needs.

One special facility, incorporated within the new building, will be a state-of-the-art, multi-place hyperbaric chamber which will provide emergency medical treatment to those involved in diving accidents. This chamber will also offer improved access to oxygen therapy for patients with a variety of medical conditions.

For rapid transfer of emergency patients, this new building will be directly linked to a newly constructed operating theater facility at Hamad General Hospital
