Job description / Role
Cavendish Professionals is currently working in an exclusive partnership with Qatar Rail, which is a government-run company set up to manage, operate and maintain three unique and fully integrated rail system to the citizens of Qatar.
Cavendish Professionals is looking for Corporate Legal Counsel to provide legal advice to the company in the areas of Corporate/Commercial legal issues and to work between English & Arabic in documents produced within or used by the Department.
Job purpose:
* Internal compliance
* Commercial contracts & procurement
* Issues relating to Qatar's laws as they apply to Qatar Rail, especially the Commercial Companies Law and laws relating to employment
* The development and maintenance of corporate policies such as Governance & Constitution documents
* The particular legislative framework(s) (existing & future) that affect or relate to the business of Qatar Rail.
* Company Secretary matters, including assisting the CEO and MD with matters for the Board
* Insurance issues for the project and corporate
* Ensures that the activities of the Company are conducted lawfully and in compliance with all relevant corporate policies, procedures and regulations.
* Deals with external solicitors in an efficient and cost effective manner while obtaining external legal advice as required by the Company from time to time
Requirements
* Tertiary Qualification in Law from a recognised institution & Admitted to recognised Bar
* Minimum experience of 8 years of Corporate Legal Practice or Law Practice
* Familiarity with the legal systems in the Middle East mandatory
* Familiarity with Qatar's laws highly desirable
* Experience in in-house roles highly desirable
* Corporate & Commercial law, including corporate compliance and governance
* Fluent in Arabic (written & spoken)
* Good English spoken & written essential
* Good advocacy skills
* Ability to work with Senior management and external govt. stakeholders
* Strong Legal Acumen
* Strategic Business Sense
