Deputy MEP Systems Engineer

Job description / Role

The broad description of the Deputy MEP Systems Engineer is to assist the HVAC/MEP Systems Engineer on design management and review of the D&B Contractor MEP package on the underground stations and tunnel sections of the Project.

The Deputy MEP Systems Engineer will have strong experience in design relative to electrical distribution, lighting, HVAC, lift, escalator, travelator, SCADA/BMS, firefighting system, fire detection system and all any other facilities relatives to rail transport system and/or transport / building infrastructures in general.

Ideally he will have experience of design coordination on Metro projects and knowledge of the design interfaces required.

Functionally, he responds to the HVAC/MEP Systems Engineer in the Engineering Department and shall:
- Provide assistance to the HVAC/MEP Systems Engineer in the management of the design process of the D&B Contractors (review and comment on the design procedures and methodologies);
- Ensure that design documentation, of the D&B Contractor, is produced and distributed in a timely manner and with the required quality;
- Analyse evidences provided by the D&B Contractor and compliance checking with Employer Requirement and the latest legislative requirements on technical and safety aspects;
- Evaluate theoretical designs (calculation notes, drawing set, description notes and technical specification note) , if needed:
- Ensure the Interface Management of the design;
- Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints;
- Assist in facilitating workshops and design reviews;

Requirements

Minimum 15 years of experience in Electro-Mechanical design with at least 5 years in large-scale Infrastructure Projects / Rail Transport Systems and/or design in tunnel works.

- HVAC/MEP Systems design experience working for D&B Contractor or Engineering office;
- International Experience (preferably in the Middle-East) of working in Design & Construction environment;
- Excellent oral and written English language;
- Qualified professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity. Leads in the formulation of advanced technical concepts.
Or,
- Provides specialist services in support of project requirements.
- Independently performs highly complex professional assignments demanding contributions calling for the application of specialised principles.
- Knowledge in the use of Electro-Mechanical design software (Caneco) is desired
