Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Review asset drawings, plans and reports provided by Project Affairs (PA)/Project Management Consultants (PMC) for future DNO&M assets stage of preliminary, concept and detail design
• Work collaboratively with PA and ensure a partnership approach to final design of the client’s RO&M Assets is developed and maintained
• Review descriptions/technical specifications in procurement documentation for contracts led by RO&M directly
• Provide accurate, timely and factual information on progress of designs in personal portfolio as part of regular reporting calendar
• Continually liaise with RO&M Engineers to ensure they are kept fully appraised and have opportunity to input into key projects/design
• Ensure documents and evidence for decisions on changes to designs and the final designs themselves are stored in accordance with internal procedures and are updated within agreed timescales
• Carry out site visits and attend coordination meetings when required
• Prepare and provide design solutions for other Sections of RO&M for mitigating various prevailing and impending relevant problems
• Prepare design, drawing and Bill of Quantity and Engineer’s estimate for various internal projects/purposes
• Contribute ideas and make suggestions to Senior Design Engineer which will help improve the quality of the design review process and positive stakeholder management and participate in moving agreed actions forward
• Take personal accountability for agreeing final design at source and if conclusions cannot be reached, to raise concerns in a timely and constructive manner, with suggestions for a way forward
• Research and keep up to date with current and future needs in terms of Assets including operation of design/modelling software
• Prepare and provide input for tender and work order specifications and work scope for contracting asset design projects, review tender submissions and provide recommendations on technical aspects
• Ensure adherence to Quality, Health and Safety and Environment Policy and Procedures within the workplace and comply with any new work instructions

Requirements

• Minimum Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering or equivalent)
• Education qualification obtained from North America, West Europe, Australia
• Holder of Chartered Membership relevant discipline (e.g. structural Engineering, Asset Management) preferred and would be an advantage
• Current/valid Qatar Driving License would be an advantage
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering design within road management industry
• In depth knowledge of asset management and design
• Knowledge of procurement and contract management
• Competent in Microsoft Office Packages, Hydraulic Modelling Software and GIS
• Experience of working in a multidisciplinary Organization preferably in the Middle East
• Ability to support and support change
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders and staff at all levels within the Organization
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English is mandatory
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is preferred
