Employment: Full Time

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, the Director of Medical Staff Services is responsible for the administrative management of the medical staff organization, including credentialing, privileging, licensing, Joint Commission International standards (Medical Staff section), institutional review, bylaws and policies, fair hearing processes, faculty appointment and development, and physician CME coordination.

The Director oversees all business and operations functions, leads strategic planning, directs the initiation and implementation of the initial and ongoing primary source verification program for the Medical Staff and selected allied health professionals, manages staff involved in credentialing, privileging, licensing, meeting management, the flow of information from medical staff committees through the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Board, physician relations, and credentialing system maintenance. The Director will work in partnership with internal departments and the SCH as the regulatory body in Qatar to ensure licensing of physicians, nurses and allied health practitioners is timely, compliant and complete.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
* Provides strategic direction and leadership in relation to the activities, resources, capabilities and performance of the Medical Staff Services Department to ensure a patient focused and service oriented environment that is best able to meet objectives and targets.
* Leads policy development appropriate to the scope of the Department and guides effective implementation of other organizational standards and compliance requirements.
* Leads the department's delivery of high quality and evidence based services that are sufficient, efficient and responsive and designed to meet identified customer needs and outcomes.
* Provides accurate, data driven and considered advice and recommendations to the Executive line in a timely manner.
* Establishes effective systems within the Department for communication, collaboration, liaison, networking and teamwork to ensure the maintenance of strong professional relationships both internally and externally.
* Leads the implementation and maintenance of effective record keeping and reporting systems within the Department.
* Leads and models an understanding, appreciation and respect for an inclusive workplace environment that respects differences and diversity.
* Leads and promotes a safe working environment inclusive of cultural competence and continuous learning, development and growth to ensure the Department has a capable and competent workforce.
* Oversees the planning and implementation of the Department's people capability including appropriate selection, orientation, goal setting, skills mix optimization, performance reviews and feedback, ongoing development, career and succession management.
* Leads JCI survey preparation for the medical staff function.
* Directs and organizes a comprehensive and specialized credentialing program to assure continued accreditation by Joint Commission International (JCI) and other regulatory organizations.
* Reviews, interprets, and provides considered and timely advice to the Executive line regarding regulatory guidelines, including medical staff bylaws, fair hearing plan, rules and regulations and policies.
* Directs staff responsible for the maintenance of systems necessary for the identification of medical staff members and the dissemination of clinical privileges, and the preparation and maintenance of other related records and reports.
* Directs staff responsible for the faculty appointment, professional development and Continuing Medical Education processes
* Updates CMO and Credentials Committee Chairman on status of physician appointments, including problem applications or questionable items during the credentialing process.
* Accountable for the overall management of all personnel ensuring continual compliance with all training, testing, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

* Bachelor degree plus 7 years' experience in MSS administration
* MHA/MBA
* 10 + years progressive management experience, with Equivalent of five years' experience at the executive level, preferable in Medical Staff Services
* Preference for experience in an Academic Medical Center

Certification and Licensure
* Certified Professional Medical Staff Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) - currently certified and maintain certification throughout employment
* Dual certification (CPMSM and CPCS) is preferred

Professional Membership
* National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS)

* Demonstrated advanced leadership ability in a similar role
* Demonstrated team development skills
* Demonstrated excellent communications skills, both written and oral
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
* Fluency in written and spoken English
* Demonstrated Proficiency in medical credentialing software operations
