Job description / Role

In a pioneering international initiative, the Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) established the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) with the sponsorship of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Located in Doha, Qatar, WCMC-Q is in its 13th year of operation and is seeking candidates for the Director of Finance available within its Finance Division.

The Director of Finance, Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, oversees all financial activities and monitors business performance of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) in the areas of education, research and clinical affairs, assuring compliance with overarching finance and related policies of Cornell University (CU) and Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC).

Responsible for all functions of the Finance Division, including accounting, financial and banking aspects of payroll, cash management, financial analysis and reporting. Determines staffing needs, recruits, supervises and directs a team of professionals in streamlined operating procedures designed to meet the needs of WCMC-Q while assuring the appropriate level of coordination with CU and WCMC.

Requirements

The successful candidate should; hold at least a CPA or other internationally recognized professional accounting qualification. Ten or more years of related experience with increasingly significant levels of responsibility and management of financial operations are required.

Having expertise in large-scale computer systems in SAP would be highly considered. Knowledge of US Fund Accounting process and Grant Management Legal or contractual background and/or training is also assets that will be considered.
