Environment & Sustainability Engineer Metro / Rail Project

Job description / Role

We are urgently looking for a Environment & Sustainability Engineer Metro / Rail projects for Doha Qatar.

- Be responsible for assisting the PMCS and the HSE Manager to provide an Environmental safe and effective work environment.
- Work collaboratively with the EHS Team, Client, and Contractor to examine potential environmental issues and assist with controls.
- Prepare and update the PMCS Environmental and Sustainability Management Plans
- Develop and implement the PMCS Environmental and Sustainability Management Procedures
- Ensure that the Environmental and Sustainability Contractor delirevables (CEMP-C, ERA, EMPs, Mitigation Plan, Sustainability Management Plan, Sustainability Design Report) comply with the Client's Requirements and delivered within the deadlines
- Ensure the development and submission by the D&B Contractor of the EIA studies requested by MoE (Ministry of Environmental)
- Ensure that the MoE Permit Applications will be submitted in a timely manner
- Attend the meetings with MoE when requested by the Client
- Monitor the implementation of the special terms of the MoE Permits
- Ensure that the Environmental and Sustainability Training needs are identified and promote and coordinate the training deliverables
- Develop effective Environmental and Sustainability KPIs to present the Client
- Lead the regular environmental, sustainability and MoE permiting meetings with the Contractor
- Monitor the implementation of the D&B Contractors plans, procedures, method statements and programs
- Follow the development and implementation of the GSAS Design and Construction Certification Process by the D&B Contractor
- Oversee the organization and realization of workshops with GORD in the GSAS pre-certification design stage
- Attend the GORD audits to the sites in the process of GSAS Construction Certification
- Attend the GORD site audits in the stage of GSAS Conformance Design
- Ensure the submissions to GSAS Trust in the stage of Final Submission
- Conduct regular site inspections
- Promote the periodic update of the Environmental and Sustainability Trackers
- Report and coordinate the environmental incidents and complaints
- Monitor, report and coordinate on the resolution of the environmental issues on site with the Construction Team
- Lead the audits to D&B Contractor
- Report monthly the Environmental and Sustainability data and relevant information to the Client
- Participate in the monthly Environmental and Sustainability Forums with the Client

Requirements

- at least 10 years overall experience
- at least 5 years of similar experience
- Metro experience
- A B.Sc, BEng, BA or Equivalent Degree
- Advanced knowledge in the environmental/industrial engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of national and international environmental /sustainability laws/regulations, industry standards for environmental and sustainability performance, and best management practices for minimizing potential environmental hazards during project execution.
- Proficiency in managing environmental/sustainability programs and supervising technical staff.
- Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of environmental/sustainability subcontractors or consultants.
- Experience in environmental assessments/inspections/audits during construction.
- Experience in developing and implementing environmental awareness training programs
- Environmental/sustainability related certifications from national/international accrediting organization/associations.
