Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of the HMC mission, vision, and values
- Describe and demonstrate precautions, procedures and participation in the storage, handling, disposal and spill procedures of hazardous waste and materials and in related emergencies.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge in the performance of his/her duties and in report writing
- Perform assigned task independently and objectively
- Collects samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis
- Prepares and calibrates equipment used to collect and analyze samples
- contribute new ideas useful to the section by developing forms, maintaining working documents and records.
- Assist the Environmental safety officer by providing consultation, expertise and exercise functional authority over hospital staff in essential matters relating to the HMWMP
- Assist in departmental training as required
- Build and maintain positive working relationship with co-workers and the public
- Complies with HMC policies and procedures and in particular Hazardous materials and waste management plan (HMWMP) infection control (IC) safety and quality management
- Perform other duties as requested

Requirements

- Diploma in Engineering OR Science
- 3 years in environmental safety
