Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Develop, maintain, improve and enforce QF Fire prevention and protection procedures
- Provide fire protection technical input on passive and active systems during project concept and detailed design in all new projects
- Provide fire protection technical input on passive and active systems during management of change processes which affect life safety systems
- Conduct regular fire safety inspections and ensure that QF facilities comply with NFPA standards
- Witness, on behalf of QF life safety, systems testing and commissioning during new projects or the installation of new systems
- Develop fire safety system inspection checklists to ensure thorough assessments
- Conduct fire risk assessments
- Develop an inventory of Qatar Civil Defence (QCD) certificates for all QF facilities and ensure that they are renewed and updated
- Organize and execute fire safety awareness campaigns and technical training for building occupants, security guards and contractors
- Conduct fire investigations and produce fire investigation reports that include root causes and corrective actions
- Create scope of services for the delivery of specialized technical fire safety consultations
- Share lessons learned with CPD related to fire safety design challenges from previous projects
- Uses, interprets and applies fire safety codes and standards to all new projects
- Maintain currency of knowledge and skills with all new fire safety-related codes and standards
- Liaise and coordinate with QCD on matters related to national standards and building recertification
- Propose and design work processes and systems to enable the business function to achieve its business objectives
- Conduct fire safety design reviews for temporary structures
- Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Engineering, or equivalent training
- Training certification in presentation and communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA standards, IBC and other relevant fire codes, and other regulatory or professional standards agencies and standards
- 10 years of experience in fire code enforcement, with at least 5 years at the supervisory level
- Good interpersonal, communication, presentation and leadership skills
- Excellent resource management skills, project management skills, and leadership qualities
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software applications
- Good writing skills - the ability to draft / edit a variety of written reports and communications and articulate ideas clearly and concisely. Arabic proficiency preferred
