Follow Me Marshaller

Job description / Role

Follow Me Marshaller - Hamad International Airport - Doha

This position is responsible to signal the aircraft and pilot-in-command to keep turning, slow down, stop and shut down engines, leading the aircraft to its parking stand or to the runway. The marshaller indicates directions to the pilot by driving a “Follow-Me” vehicle (a yellow van or pick-up truck with a black checkerboard pattern) prior to disembarking and resuming signaling with hand signals.

About You:
- The Follow Me Marshaller is responsible for each flight during arrival (Stand clear message, On-Block) and Departure (off-block). This position reports to the Senior Officer Follow Me Marshalling SOFMM.
- Responsible for providing quick and efficient signaling and day to day monitoring of all operational task of marshallers / follow me activities.
- Operating the Follow-Me vehicle and guidance of aircraft in line with the compliance of SOPs.
- Hand marshalling of aircraft and helicopters into the parking position in case of unavailability of VDGS, or if aircraft is parked on alternating centerlines in multiple aircraft parking stands or in a non-standard parking configuration.
- Carrying out stand pre-use inspection and practice emergency procedures.
- Guidance of aircraft in low visibility or on restricted taxiways e.g. around airside construction.
- Escorting of vehicles on the airside.
- Escorting of emergency vehicles in case of emergency.
- Monitoring airside construction.
- Effectively manage adherence and efficiency of airside operations procedures in compliance with SOPs.

Requirements

- College diploma or High school graduate
- Holder of Airport Driving Licence – AVOP – Category 3
- Minimum 3 years in a capacity of Follow-Me Operator and Marshaller Training.
- Minimum 5 years experience as Equipment Operator in an international airport.
- Must have thorough knowledge of apron operating restrictions and safety procedures.
- Must be a holder of radio operator’s certificate having formally trained on the use of radio telephony.
- Must have attended formal training on airside driving.
- Must have attended airline / airport ramp safety training courses.
- Must have undergone marshalling training.

Job Specific Skills:
- Must be a holder of valid Qatar Driving License.
- Good knowledge of the appropriate regulations and safety procedures for the airport.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret ordinances, laws and operating procedures.
- Ability to communicate in English both verbal/written.
- Ability to coordinate emergency situations and to respond appropriately.
- Ability to courteously and tactfully communicate and relate with superiors, peers and other employees.
- Equipment / vehicle driving skills.
- Must hold certification and proficiency in aeronautical radio communications.
- Ability to coordinate emergency and irregularity situations and to respond appropriately.
