Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

General Job Purpose Brief
Baggage/ Ramp Handling – Performing Reconciliation, leading loading and offloading of baggage and cargo function or any other similar role.

Work Duties
• Coordinate with Baggage operation control center (BOC) /Load control for ULD requirement and special loads on allocated flights
• Arrange serviceable ULDs on time to the allocated makeups for building up of departure baggage.
• Allocate manpower to safely and efficiently build up ULD and trolleys.
• Monitor closely the scanning activities of GHA II and GHA I while building up of baggage units to ensure no over carriage of unauthorized bags.
• Ensure loading and delivery of baggage/ULDs are commenced without discrepancies and on time.
• Report to BOC/Load Controller for any deviations from the planned ULD requirements and accurately record them.
• Release loaded ULDs to the departure flights well on time.
• Ensure loading and delivery of baggage/ULDs are commenced without discrepancies and on time.
• Liaise with HIA / QAS BCR with regards to Baggage Arrival belt allocation and to ensure the arrival presentation standards are met.
• Communicate/coordinate with BOC for any SOOG items (AVIH, Special loads) and record and highlight discrepancies.
• Update transfer baggage received timings and highlight late receipt of bags to BOC.
• Highlight outstation discrepancies to Baggage Operation Coordinator (BOC).
• Apply all safety procedures at all times, and ensure all reporting staff does likewise.

Requirements

Minimum Educational Qualifications
Essential
• Basic literacy, Numeracy skills, English communication skills
• Experienced - minimum 3 years of job-related experience OR
• High School Qualification (e.g. O level, Year 10, min compulsory education)
• Experienced - minimum 2 years of job-related experience

Preferred
• At least 1 year experience in all areas of airport operations • At least 6 months experience working at the Baggage areas

Required Work Knowledge and Skills
• Fully conversant with all office applications on the PC.
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English
• Driving license is advantageous
• Ability to react to frequent operational changes and work under pressure.
• Ability to lead, direct, and motivate all reporting staff.
• Ability to apply all SOP’s all of the time.
