Job description / Role
Charterhouse is working with a utility group who is looking to hire a professional and commercially astute Head of Legal who will report directly to the CEO providing expert legal advice adhering to its operational, legal and financial requirements. This is an integral role where you will be a high level strategic thinker with excellent decision-making skills and will be fluent in Arabic and English.
You will provide high level strategic and legal advice to protect the legal and all other interests for the company, responsible for all litigation matters supporting in all legal proceedings and court cases/hearings and will also have full accountability for all Company Secretary Activities including the organizing of the Board and Annual General Meetings. You will work closely with the Risk Management team to ensure appropriate measures are put into place to protect the Company from legal risks as well as be heavily involved in the review of financial documents and corporate loans.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have excellent commercial contract drafting skills, broad competencies including regulatory, risk management, corporate governance and compliance, and would require someone with up to 15 years ++ PQE along with a Bachelor of Law from a reputable university. Preferred knowledge within the utility industry would be advantageous. You will have outstanding leadership and problem solving skills and will be a critical and strategic thinker who is able to build solid relationships with key stakeholders. Candidates based in Qatar will be considered.
