Employment: Full Time

Wood has an opportunity for a Principal HSE Advisor to join our team in Qatar on a long term basis. This is a key role within the Wood Doha office delivering across study, FEED, EPC and PMC scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets. Reflecting the market focus for the office in both brownfield and green field opportunities, multi-skilled personnel are sought, in particular those with experience in Onshore Oil and Gas with a level of offshore Oil and Gas project knowledge

Responsibilities:
• Providing strategic advice and guidance to their Managers on all HSE related matters
• Rolling-out of Group HSE annual objectives and initiatives and development of company HSE objectives
• Providing support to Business Unit/Contract/Project Managers and HSE Advisors in the development and roll-out of Group HSE objectives and other initiatives
• Providing support to senior Managers in incident and accident investigations through the use of an appropriate Investigation process (e.g. Helix or Taproot)
• Monitoring 'best-practice' and developing 'leading-edge' HSE initiatives as appropriate to the business they are supporting
• Completion of Management Support Visits to installations and work-sites
• Providing support to senior Managers and HSE Advisors in the timely reporting of both leading and lagging HSE Indicators
• Undertaking lagging indicator reviews of incident/accident trends and providing timely advice to senior Managers and Corporate Management on actions and initiatives
• Providing mentorship and training for graduate/new recruits into the HSE team as appropriate
• Providing cross-Business Unit support as required
• Carrying-out HSE Inductions for New-starts
• Developing HSE presentational material to support inductions and Group initiatives

Requirements

Qualifications:
• University Degree in Technical, HSE or related industry
• Degree in relevant technical, industry or HSEQ specific discipline
• NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma (essential)
• NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable)
• Trained and competent Internal Auditor (essential)
• Trained and competent External Auditor (desirable)
• RCA - Accident/incident Investigator, e.g. Helix/Taproot (essential)

Knowledge, skills and experience:
• 15+ years in a technical role, or association with HSE role in another industry.
• Lead HSE advisor experience with project/contract experience in O&G or other industry
• Excellent working knowledge with relevant legislation and regulations
• Good planning and organizational skills
• Effective/competent MS Office Suite User
• High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format
